EnviroMission Limited (www.enviromission.com.au) produced this 5 minute video on the pilot plant in Spain. It is an older video (2000) but gives a decent understanding of the solar tower concept.
EnviroMission, Ltd. (US Market: EVOMY, Australian Exchange: EVM) is a renewable energy developer of sustainable “green” energy solutions for the energy market. EnviroMission aims to be one of Australia’s leading producers of clean renewable energy. EnviroMission holds the proprietary rights to Solar Tower technology, a large-scale renewable energy technology based on simple fundamentals of physics — hot air rises. Solar Tower technology has the potential to offer competitive renewable energy with equal reliability to fossil fuel generators.
A single 200MW Solar Tower power station will provide enough electricity to power around 400,000 households. The energy output will represent an annual saving of more than 1,960,000 tonnes of greenhouse CO2 gases from entering the environment when compared to brown coal emissions in Victoria. The greenhouse savings equate to the removal of approximately 500,000 cars from the road. The Australian Solar Tower project consists of six distinct phases, the first two of which (project optimization and pre-feasibility commercialization) have already been completed. The third phase (final feasibility), paving the way for the implementation of the next three phases (final design, construction, and commercial operation).

BIO
David Tice – Chief Portfolio Strategist, Bear Markets
David W. Tice, Federateds chief portfolio strategist for bear markets, has been at the forefront of bear market investing for more than 20 years.
Mr. Tice has long taken the role of a Cassandra to warn investors about the dangers of investing near the end of a secular bull market and has debated nearly every bullish Wall Street strategist. He gained national recognition through articles he wrote for Barron’s and as the subject of numerous business journal and television interviews beginning at the time when he was among just a handful of courageous people who dared to short the market. Today he shares his views of the market and bear market investing approaches with both Federated investment personnel and clients alike.
Prior to his career as an investment manager and strategist, Mr. Tice held financial analyst positions with Atlantic Richfield Company and ENSERCH Corporation, a diversified energy company. He then joined Concorde Financial Corporation where he served as director of investments and was responsible for launching an equity mutual fund.
He launched his firm, David W. Tice & Associates, LLC, in 1988 to provide clients with hedging and sell discipline perspectives and recommendations through his “Behind the Numbers” publication and research service. This effort formed the origins of Federated Prudent Bear Fund in 1995 and Federated Prudent Global Income Fund in 2000.
Mr. Tice holds an undergraduate degree in accounting as well as an MBA from Texas Christian University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

(August 23, 2007) The collapse of the subprime mortgage market in the United States has led to stock market drops across the world. See the effect those investments have had on the European and Asian markets, reminding if of how connected we are in the global economy. But not just Wall Street is feeling the Squeeze; Main Street America is feeling the credit crunch as millions of Americans lose their homes or are unable to find loans even with excellent credit.

Future of banking after the credit crunch and sub-prime crisis – impact on global economy. Meltdown of financial markets. Fire sale of banking assets after mark to market tests. Capital adequacy, bank solvency and capital injection with partial nationalisation. Global chaos in banking and economic outlook for emerging economies / developed economies. Impact on banking profits from global economic chaos, recession and collapse in bank share prices. Retail banking, corporate banking, wholesale banking and investment banking will become profitable again. Economy Video by keynote conference speaker Dr Patrick Dixon . The banking crisis will lead to further consolidation, cuts in retail outlets and staff redundancies. This will remove competition from the market and allow greater profit margins over things like commercial loans and mortgages or current account bank charges. Coupled with cost-savings, this will result in healthy profits in future. Banking share prices are in turn likely to show recovery, which could also mean that the end cost of expensive government rescue packages may be less than feared, if they involved providing banks with equity in return for shares. Taxpayers may actually make a gain from their public ownwership of slices of banks. While huge remuneration for CEOs and Chairman of banks will come under scrutiny, and while regulation will be stricter, we can expect rewards for the most skilled bankers to once again be very generous. Interest rate cuts will also help banks indirectly by stimulating the businesses they lend to and helping to take the edge off a long recession.
