What Is WinFS? — Windows 7 Technology
After Windows XP, Microsoft came up with a brilliant concept for a new operating system with an array of stunning new technologies.
But Microsoft pushed the new operating system back, and instead put out Windows Vista, which is more or less, Windows XP, but prettier. WinFS got cancelled.
Now, Microsoft is rapidly losing market share of the operating system market to Apple’s Mac lineup, brilliant advertising campaigns, and, quite frankly, better and more reliable technology. Note that this also affects all the computer manufacturers of Windows-based computers. This includes Dell, HP/Compaq, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba, Sony, etc.
Microsoft has been working on that operating system that they pushed back (It has many code names, one of which is Windows 7). Will Microsoft be able to get back its market share? Will it bring back WinFS?
The fate of Microsoft, and all the manufacturers of Windows-based computers may depend on it.

All this looks cool …
All this looks cool and all but truth is, most of it won’t get implemented. It looks cool but it’s not practical and not user friendly.
I’m a Linux fanboy but I know that MS has good developers for their user interfaces. I was really impressed with how well everything was integrated in W7.

WinFS natively …
WinFS natively recognizes different types of data, such as picture, e-mail, document, audio, video, calendar, contact, among others; rather than just bytestreams as with file systems.

I don’t know where …
I don’t know where you got your information on WinFS from, but it’s all wrong. WinFS was a technology in Longhorn, it was one of the ‘pillars’ as they called it (Along with, for example, Indigo, the communications pillar). The project was all but shut down around the Longhorn reset in 2004, due to it’s overall complexity. Elements of it will be and have been used elsewhere in programs, but WinFS as a pure technology, will never exist.

Kernel 6 is just …
Kernel 6 is just the version of the service that uses the actual SIP (sistem idle process) but the system of process servicing and distributing is a little different from Kernel 5 to 6… but from 6 to 7 it is way different, because it has a more stable SIP and a much better SVC hosting program, (smaller memory dumps, and a less chance to actually get an error report, because … less chance to get errors, amigo… and Windows 7 is the moment’s OS but not the future’s OS…that’s Windows 8…

And Kernel 6 SUCKS!
Windows 7 is the finish product of what Longhorn started. Vista is an unfinished product and super-unstable, but for Microsoft fans it was the ‘paradise’.

Longhorn is an abbandoned project man, vista only has the appearance of Longhorn, and some of it’s workouts, but do you know why longhorn was an abandoned project? I don’t think so! And for the record: Longhorn still had the Kernel 5 version, just like XP…but Vista has Kernel 6…a new Kernel version…but that’s a different story, I guess…but Vista is not Longhorn, and it’ll never be…

The animation is perfect
Microsoft will be never able to regain Mac users, unless Apple quits the game. M$ has to upgrade BIOS to EFI, Register to better technology, and so further WinFS will get M$ more problems (”bugs”) than any other File OS.
