That’s exactly it. …
That’s exactly it. This is just for Japan and it was even taken from a Japanese video website. He’s not even the creator of said video.

Ah man. The …
Ah man. The original creator should’ve put reasons why the DS became the majority of the sales in 2006. Was it because of a particular game that was release? I mean, the Wii came out in that year and the DS outsold it by 10 fold.
I liked the recap at the end. It looked like a battle of which one was going to eat the other one.

all PS3 needs is …

@Da1shocker: What …
@Da1shocker: What do you call Tecmo Bowl for the NES? But true sports gamers haven’t been down with Nintendo for the reason I mentioned. The shift from 4th gen to 5th pulled those fans into Sony’s cinematic philosophy since they wanted NFL on game as close to real as possible to TV. High-fidelity sound & graphics took over. Nintendo sold their own style of sports like Mario Sports & now Wii Sports Resort which will outdo any Madden out there long range. Almost beat the 360’s one this August.

@Da1shocker: Japan …
@Da1shocker: Japan was a lot different in 1995 than it is in 2009. Wii is going to double PS2’s record…AT LEAST. What system has been out for almost 3 years without 1 single price drop? The all time best sellers (pack-in or not) are dominated by Nintendo. They called Gamecube a failure but it was still profitable with high selling games. Wii Sports just killed SMB for all-time best seller. Wii Play, Wii Fit, Nintendogs, NewSMB, Brain Age, MKDS&Wii, Pokémon D/P just killin all their dreams
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Wait the original …
Wait the original PSx didn’t have a handheld. and it won out. So all the Wii needs is a price drop and a few more “mini game compilations to beat the PS2’s old record then?
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Sports fans have …
Sports fans have never gravitated towards Nintendo. During the 16-Bit wars it was the Genesis. During the 32/64 era it was the psx, Then it was the PS2/Xbox and now it’s the 360/PS3. Visual Concepts which is the second biggest sports company out there dropped there GC support completely and there support of the Wii in terms of sports games has been lagging because sports gamers know you don’t buy a Nintendo system for sports games.

@Da1shocker: MS …
@Da1shocker: MS loses because it never got Japan. You can’t win world without Japan. MS has no handheld. Without a handheld, they have no chance to get Japan. But it doesn’t mean PS3 can necessarily catch them worldwide. Project Natal is MS’s way to stun Nintendo & in effect Sony. I doubt it will work but there will be a redesign of sorts. Wii will outsell PS2 as best selling home console. It’s outpacing PS2’s prime now. Price dropped Wii & a few more hit games & the others will look foolish.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
@Da1shocker: This …
@Da1shocker: This guy loves to debate. Being put on every system doesn’t mean that system has priority. It’s like Ninja Gaiden on 360 vs. the game on PS3. Some systems have priority. And Madden along with its fans has followed Sony’s cinematic era philosophy (Sean Malstrom’s Theory of Cycles). MS is Sony’s usurper & American so it has taken Madden priority away from Sony. That’s why 360 Madden sells most now. 360 mirrors PS3 to steal its customers. Until fans change, it won’t sell on Nintendo.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
M$ will eventually …
M$ will eventually loose there hold because there system doesn’t have the value that the PS3 has. Unless they redesign there system and put more features in it. PS3 will overtake them . And who knows how long Nintendo can keep there .run up. I can’t see them supporting the Wii for 10 years.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Madden has been put …
Madden has been put out on near every major console except the Dreamcast. Now hardcore football no well that they want real Football not whatever is offered on the Wii so they aren’t gonna do big numbers on the Wii at all.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
@Da1shocker: Madden …
@Da1shocker: Madden bombs on Nintendo systems in general because of N64 vs. PS1. Madden used to be a PC game that had to get that console money. EA was a PC gamemaker originally. Madden used to be SNES but then Nintendo flubbed with N64, Sony comes in PS1, snatches up priority of Madden, Madden being a football sim mirrors the cinematic looks/sounds philosophy of Sony (see Sean Malstrom’s Theory of Cycles). MS later usurps Sony & is American like NFL. Now Madden sells most on this HD console.

@Da1shocker: They …
@Da1shocker: They haven’t gotten rid of Sony YET. Give ‘em credit. The PSP is the best challenger to Nintendo’s handheld kingdom EVER. I thank Sony for lighting a fire under Nintendo which resulted in what’s seen in the video above during the years 2005-2007. “PSP Go” might very well be a literal statement, my brother. PS3 Slim finally got some things right but how long can Sony hang on if Microsoft starts putting pressure on them & Nintendo finishes the Revolution? It’s a long way to 2010, man.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
The reason Madden …
The reason Madden bombed is because the Wii doesn’t cater to the hardcore football audience who will go for the PS3 or 360 versions. The Wii cater to casual people who don’t give a about sports games. They also like the simplicity of the Wii. Oh all I have to do is point and the thing works. And the games are 10 dollars cheaper than 360 and PS3 games so it looks like a better value in there eyes.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
If they aren’t so …
If they aren’t so competitive then why hasn’t Sony packed up left the handheld business? Nintendo has destroyed every single competitor in this market but they can’t get rid of Sony. Who has sold more PSP than every other failed handheld unit combined.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
@Da1shocker: Also …
@Da1shocker: Also as for that Wii/XBox 360 matchup. America is 360’s best biggest region. It’s STILL outsold by Wii here. Explain that. WITH Arcade model being cheaper. I won’t hold 360’s Japanese performance against ‘em but what about homebase? Nintendo’s beating 360 on hardware & software overall. Yeah Madden bombs on Wii (there’s explanation for that but for another time) but 360’s titles WISH they can make the consistent sales Nintendo does. 360 has “casual” games too. Why isn’t it working?
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
@Da1shocker: Europe …
@Da1shocker: Europe is a bigger region than Japan. I’m talking about games, Da1shocker, because systems alone don’t get the job done. You gotta put something on it. PSP gets dogged out by Nintendo in Europe each & every week. They are not competitive in Americas. It’s only Japan why they even have a chance right now. in Japan, they are handheld alternative to DS so it sells because people like choice. Monster Hunter Freedom kept them alive like GTA did here. PSP Go aims to offset DSi in Japan.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
The 360 has sold a …
The 360 has sold a dismal 1 million units in Japan. The original sold 2 million in all of Asia. The Gamecube sold 4 million in Japan alone. The Wii has sold 8 million in Japan. Japanese don’t like American products at all. And the Wii has tons of crappy games and loads of shovelware. They got slightly beefed up hardware from the GCN put in some goofy motion controls that appealed to even old folks and made a killing. And how did Japan save the PSP yet it has sold the most units in Europe?
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
@Da1shocker: Umm, …
@Da1shocker: Umm, XBox 360 Arcade $199.99, XBox 360 Elite $299.99. They dropped below Nintendo months ago. Still didn’t help them get an edge on Wii. PSP is the bootleg/porn system of choice. What games sell on there? Japan saved that system & that’s because Japanese want a handheld alternative. Handhelds rule Japan not home consoles. Only there is it doing respectable. In Europe/World & Americas it’s all DS. Wii would have beat PS3 no matter what. PS3 cost too much to make to launch like that.

Uhm Wii 249.99
Xbox …
Uhm Wii 249.99
Xbox 360 299-399
PS3 499.99-599.99
The DS success had nothing to do with the success of the Wii it was the price point. Nintendo had a great price point that Sony simply could’nr match out the gate. And how did Sony a rude awaking the PSP is hardly a failure. The DS has sold 107 million units worldwide compared to the 55 million for the PSP. Some rude awakening. Let me ask you this if the PS3 came out the door at 299.99 do you think the Wii would’ve sold like it did?
February 28th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
@Da1shocker: There …
@Da1shocker: There was no luck involved. Nintendo paid attention to what was going on & made the proper moves. Once DS was successful, Wii was a shoe-in. When Sony thought they could do to Nintendo what they did to Sega by making the PSP (trespassing on The N’s handheld turf), they got a rude awakening. Nintendo doubled down & you see the result on this video. In Japan, the only competitors in the 2000s were Sony & Nintendo. Sony wanted to rule all videogaming & focus on MSoft & Apple. Mistake.
