In the US, the government publishes a huge document each year using SIC codes (Standard Industrial Codes).  Each unique SIC code describes a specific type of business, and each one is &quot;summarized&quot; in the report.  It will give average income, expenses, profits/losses, etc.  If there is a similar publication, it will at least be a starting spot.
