How long does it take for super markets to deliver food to your house?

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Just wondering how long it takes for super markets to deliver food, if i signed up now would i get food within a few hours or would it take a good couple of days atleast?

The reason i ask is because i’m home alone for the week and i’ve run out of food and there’s no where i can withdraw money within walking distance.

I live in England if that makes any difference.

At best it would be a next day job – and then only if they’ve got any "slots" available

What is the difference between Global Markets and Investment banking?

Monday, April 26th, 2010

I am going to be interning at a global investment bank in London this summer and I was wondering what the main differences are between Investment banking and Global markets, thank you!

A market in this case, is a place, not necessary a phiscal one, where securities are traded. In your case this refers to platforms or markets that are large enough to have a global influence and are recognised globally. On the other hand investment banks are institutions that pool in funds from clients so as to invest them and in doing so also provide capital to business that need capital. Investment banks also help create securities for business going public, again they help business raise capital.

Solar Tower – renewable energy green global warming

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

EnviroMission Limited (www.enviromission.com.au) produced this 5 minute video on the pilot plant in Spain. It is an older video (2000) but gives a decent understanding of the solar tower concept.

EnviroMission, Ltd. (US Market: EVOMY, Australian Exchange: EVM) is a renewable energy developer of sustainable “green” energy solutions for the energy market. EnviroMission aims to be one of Australia’s leading producers of clean renewable energy. EnviroMission holds the proprietary rights to Solar Tower technology, a large-scale renewable energy technology based on simple fundamentals of physics — hot air rises. Solar Tower technology has the potential to offer competitive renewable energy with equal reliability to fossil fuel generators.

A single 200MW Solar Tower power station will provide enough electricity to power around 400,000 households. The energy output will represent an annual saving of more than 1,960,000 tonnes of greenhouse CO2 gases from entering the environment when compared to brown coal emissions in Victoria. The greenhouse savings equate to the removal of approximately 500,000 cars from the road. The Australian Solar Tower project consists of six distinct phases, the first two of which (project optimization and pre-feasibility commercialization) have already been completed. The third phase (final feasibility), paving the way for the implementation of the next three phases (final design, construction, and commercial operation).

Forex Options Market Overview

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

http://ForexAutopilotSystem.org -

The forex options market started as an over-the-counter (OTC) financial vehicle for large banks, financial institutions and large international corporations to hedge against foreign currency exposure. Like the forex spot market, the forex options market is considered an “interbank” market. However, with the plethora of real-time financial data and forex option trading software available to most investors through the internet, today’s forex option market now includes an increasingly large number of individuals and corporations who are speculating and/or hedging foreign currency exposure via telephone or online forex trading platforms.

Forex option trading has emerged as an alternative investment vehicle for many traders and investors. As an investment tool, forex option trading provides both large and small investors with greater flexibility when determining the appropriate forex trading and hedging strategies to implement.

Most forex options trading is conducted via telephone as there are only a few forex brokers offering online forex option trading platforms.

Forex Option Defined – A forex option is a financial currency contract giving the forex option buyer the right, but not the obligation, to purchase or sell a specific forex spot contract (the underlying) at a specific price (the strike price) on or before a specific date (the expiration date). The amount the forex option buyer pays to the forex option seller for the forex option contract rights is called the forex option “premium.”

The Forex Option Buyer – The buyer, or holder, of a foreign currency option has the choice to either sell the foreign currency option contract prior to expiration, or he or she can choose to hold the foreign currency options contract until expiration and exercise his or her right to take a position in the underlying spot foreign currency. The act of exercising the foreign currency option and taking the subsequent underlying position in the foreign currency spot market is known as …
