How do I find a job when I’m changing industries? I was in sales, but want to do market analysis. Help!?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I recently resigned from the pharmaceutical sales job I had to persue another career path. I am having a hard time switching industries. I am interested in Marketing Analysis jobs, but am open to other ideas as well; as long as they are outside of sales. Any ideas on how to find jobs when switching industries?

Sorry, but I find it very hard to believe that you resigned from a pharmaceutical sales job without another job lined up. These jobs are very hard to get and are sought after by many. One does not just give it up and resign for no extreme reason.

If you were successful as a pharma sales rep, and left the company on your own volition, not fired by management, it will be difficult at first to overcome the hurdle of employers wanting to know why you left without another job lined up. I suggest you put together a stellar resume, practice interviewing, hold your head up and pursue whatever it is that you want. It will only be a matter of time until you find your next home. Good luck!

Do feel that every time the government issues new economic reports every few days-the market bounces?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

It appears that every time the government(and it seems to be happening more often lately) the stock market take an exceptionally Big que from these reports and becomes exceptionally volatile they should only come out on weekends when markets are closed-then the market would Truly respond to business bottom line and not to past REPORTS.Hope some one is listening.

Government is required to issue reports on a schedule established long ago.

Where can I find information on emerging business trends and market gaps?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I’m researching ideas for a new start-up, and I’m looking for information on emerging trends and market gaps particularly in the online arena.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Subscribe to Business 2.0 magazine — they have lots of great articles on emerging market trends and gaps in the Web. Afterall, this is their focus. In their recent issue, they had a great feature on the next "disruptors" — startups that can potentially become big.

Why did FOXNEWS.com take the Stock Market Report off of their front page today?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

hmmmm…
could it be better to hide it because the falling market doesnt work with the Conservative slant?
i read foxnew.com each day and the stock report is always on the right side near the center.
hey emmabug, what stock report are you reading? nyse.com shows the dow at -433 and it’s 4:00pm… is a negateve number considered a rebound by republicans now?

The debate is coming. They are rallying their viewers. Just the same as CNN. The news channels don’t care who wins they are covering a political view of their viewers. They are on a mission to make money.

This falling market is the fault of both parties. When are you going to realize the politicians are not on our side. One is the party of big wasteful spending and the other is the party of bigger wasteful spending. The Dems are not going to save the country. If they were they would be saying they are going to cut spending and programs.

The GOP is not going to save the country if they were they would be saying they were going to cut spending and programs.

Lets be honest there are a few fundamental differences in direction that each party wants to take the country. But both are over spending and getting rich off the backs of the tax payers. Do you know if there is a member of Congress that is not a millionaire?

What are examples of vertical markets for a social network website devoted to the green movement?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I need a few examples to answer a question that–to me–doesn’t seem too clear. It seems to me that the question would entail other green social networking websites. Am I wrong and would its vertical markets encompass such industries as environmental science, conservation, and LEED certification?

Most green networks I have seen are consumer oriented,. Not really business targeted. Take a look at green world view

How do you find people to take market research surveys?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I need to find 50 people to respond to my market research survey for my business class. The questions involve home health care/personal care and services such as homemaking, meal preparation, yard work, transportation assistance, and respite care. Any ideas where I might find people willing to take this survey?

Big companies run ads saying they will pay $5 for a 10 minute in-person survey. It is amazing how many people will travel to get $5.

You would do best to go to local schools and ask if you could do a survey group in any study hall or library. It would not be a noisy process so you won’t be bothering anyone. The students would be curious and they would participate. You could award one person $5 out of a drawing.
